SUN PRAIRIE, Wis (WSAU) A woman from Sun Prairie will spend up to 10-years in prison for conning an elderly neighbor out of $24,000. Gloria Evens was sentenced yesterday. She did it to feed her gambling addiction.

Evans told the 85-year-old victim that she needed a loan until an insurance settlement came through. She later admitted that she had a $500-a-hand gambling habit at a local casino. She was unable to pay back the money.

Evens has an earlier conviction for theft, bail jumping, and a parole violation. She'll serve a minimum of 8-years behind bars, and 5 years on extended supervision for theft by false representation.
