WINNEBAGO, WI (WTAQ) - Police in Oshkosh say they've found an escaped inmate from the Winnebago Drug Abuse Correctional Facility.

Authorities with the Fond du Lac police department was notified around 11:30 p.m. Thursday that 43-year-old Stephen Clauss was staying at a hotel in the city.

Cops say they went to the hotel and took Clauss into custody.

Police say Clauss walked away from the facility Thursday afternoon, located just north of the city in Winnebago.

Clauss allegedly tried to steal a vehicle on the Oshkosh’s northeast side.
