GREEN BAY, Wis. (WTAQ) - An apartment fire on Green Bay's east side leaves nine people without a home.
It broke out just after 8 p.m. Thursday at 1830 East Mason Street.
Residents at the six-unit complex say smoke detectors alerted them that something was wrong. Within minutes, firefighters were on the scene dousing the building with water.
Crews were forced to fight the fire from the outside when it became too treacherous inside. A City Bus kept people warm until the American Red Cross could find somewhere for the displaced residents to stay.
Investigators have ruled out anything suspicious as the case...but a final ruling won't be known until next week. Damage is estimated to be at least $250,000.
Two neighboring apartment complexes were also evacuated because they lost power.
