Packers, McCarthy Reportedly Negotiating

Green Bay, Wis. (WHBL-Learfield) - There’s a report that the Green Bay Packers are negotiating a three-year contract extension with coach Mike McCarthy. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel says McCarthy is expected to average five-million-dollars a year, and will be one of the 10 highest-paid head coaches in the N-F-L. Negotiations reportedly began last month between the team and McCarthy’s agent, former players’ union president and Pro Bowl defensive end Trace Armstrong. The 47-year-old McCarthy currently has two years left on his contract. But Packers’ president Mark Murphy has said that he wants McCarthy to have same length on his deal as general manager Ted Thompson – who has signed a three-year extension through 2015. Meanwhile, the Green Bay Press-Gazette says the Packers are not renewing the contract of coaching administrator Curtis Fuller. The former Packers’ safety has spent two years on the coaching staff, helping prepare the weekly game plans among other things. In 2009, Fuller was a special teams’ assistant. It’s the second change on the Packer coaching staff, after receivers’ coach Jimmy Robinson left to join the Dallas Cowboys.
