ARLINGTON, Tex. (WTAQ) - The Vince Lombardi Trophy is returning home as the Green Bay Packers defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers 31-25 in Super Bowl XLV at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington Texas Sunday.
The Packers turned 3 Steelers turnovers into 21 points, as the green and gold won their 4th Super Bowl championship and 13th NFL title overall.
Quarterback Aaron Rodgers, the MVP of Super Bowl XLV, finished the game 24-of-39 for 304 yards and 3 touchdown passes. Wide receiver Jordy Nelson stepped up and caught 9 passes for 140 yards and a touchdown. Greg Jennings also had a big game catching the other 2 Rodgers TD throws.
Packers head coach Mike McCarthy, a Pittsburgh native, wins his first Super Bowl championship.
For the Steelers, QB Ben Roethlisberger finished the game 25-of-40 for 263 yards, with 2 TD's and 2 interceptions.
One of the interceptions was returned by safety Nick Collins 37 yards for a touchdown in the 1st quarter.
The Packers are scheduled to arrive back in Titletown Monday afternoon, and then host an event celebrating their latest Super Bowl title on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Lambeau Field.
