GREEN BAY, Wis. (WTAQ) - Green Bay Packers fans looking for a place to watch the team's returning motorcade may have to wait a little longer Monday.
Austin Straubel Airport Director Tom Miller says the team charter is due to arrive between 1:35 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
The Green Bay Police Department says depending on arrival time, it would also push back the estimated start time of the motorcade to 3 p.m.
Here's a recap of the details from the Green Bay P.D.:
Upon returning home from the Super Bowl, the Green Bay Packers will travel from Austin Straubel airport to Lambeau Field. The proposed motorcade route is 172 Eastbound from the airport to Packerland Drive, North on Packerland to Hazelwood, East ondraft Hazelwood/Lombardi to Lambeau Field.
There will be road closures along this route starting at approximately 1:15pm until the motorcade has passed and crowds have dispersed. It is anticipated that there will be a contingent of fans wishing to welcome the Packers back from the Super Bowl so we have designated areas for pedestrians and crowds to watch the motorcade as it passes by.
There are 3 different zones where fans can gather. It is the recommendation of the Green Bay Police Department that fans gather at Lambeau Field or in the vicinity. The large parking lot offers the most space for crowds to safely gather without being in or near vehicular traffic. If the Lambeau Field area becomes too crowded, fans also have the option of gathering on Packerland, or Hazelwood.
On Packerland (Green Zone), fans should only gather in the southbound traffic lanes North of Cormier Road in the City of Green Bay (the 2 lanes on the west side of the street). Both Northbound lanes are to remain open for motorcade travel. Note that there are limited parking opportunities in the neighborhood area around Packerland Drive.
On Hazelwood (Gold Zone), fans should only gather in the westbound lane (North side of the street) in the lane closest to the North curb. The other lanes must remain open for motorcade travel. Note that there are limited parking opportunities in the neighborhood area around Hazelwood Lane.
On Hazelwood East of Wood Lane and all of Lombardi Avenue (Red Zone) there are no designated on street areas for pedestrians to gather. Fans should NOT gather in any traffic lane in this area. This area will be open to some regular traffic and lanes are also to remain open for motorcade travel.
We want this event to be safe and enjoyable for everyone and reiterate that fans need to stay clear of the motorcade route for their own safety, as well as the safety of the Packer players and staff in the motorcade. Please stand clear of all emergency vehicles and motorcade vehicles while they are traveling along the route.
