MENASHA, WI (WTAQ) – The Menasha police department says someone has come forward with information about a prosthetic leg found earlier this month.
Police were shocked that no one had claimed the vital and expensive lost-and-found item. But now Menasha prosthetic professional Chuck Buxton says the leg belongs to a former patient of his, who passed away years ago.
A woman found the leg in her neighborhood early Monday morning on August 4th. She had no idea who it belonged to – so she gave it to the police.
Police are contacting the former paitent's family to find out why it was found where it was.
Officer Aaron Zemlock said the leg has a black shoe at the bottom – and it’s the most unusual lost-and-found item he’s seen in his 15 years on the police force.
