JANESVILLE, Wis (WSAU) A man who was swimming in a Janesville lake with his children discovered a pipe bomb in the water on Saturday.
The man was swimming in Lake Koshkononh when he stepped on the explosive device in about two feet of water near the shore. He carried it to the beach and buried part of it in the sand and called police. The Dane County bomb squad was dispatched to the area and detonated the device.
It's not clear how long the explosives were in the water or whether they were still active. The explosives were in a foot-long length of 2-inch pipe with a 4-inch fuse. Police say they're now looking for the bomb-maker.
