Trial date set for woman, 74, accused of killing daughter in 1957

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (WTAQ) - A trial date of July 12th has been set for a 74-year-old Sheboygan woman accused of killing her six-month-old daughter in a fit of rage back in 1957.

A plea hearing was held this morning for Ruby Klokow. But she did not change her previous innocent plea to a second-degree murder charge in the death of young Jeaneen Klokow.

Defense lawyer Kirk Obear said he’s reviewing extensive and complicated evidence he received from prosecutors during the last several weeks. A hearing will take place in June on pre-trial requests.

According to police, Klokow confessed to officers last year that she threw her baby onto a couch – and she bounced to the floor. At the time, police were told that the baby fell about 16 inches from the couch to a carpet on the floor – but a pathologist who recently looked at medical reports said the impact was really a lot harder. The case was re-opened a couple years ago, after Klokow’s son suspected that his mother committed murder.

Investigators said there were years of abuse at the Klokow residence.
