EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn (TSN-WSAU) The Minnesota Vikings have fired head coach Brad Childress and named defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier as the interim coach for the remainder of the season.
The move comes just a day after the Vikings suffered an embarrassing 31-3 home loss against Green Bay and fell to a disappointing 3-7 for the season. During the loss, Vikings fans jeered "fire Childress" while boos rained down on the team during a lifeless second half at the Metrodome.
Childress' job was said to be in jeopardy following the Randy Moss issue, as the coach apparently decided to waive the controversial wide receiver against the wishes of owner Zygi Wilf on November 1.
The Vikings appeared to save the coach's job with a stunning comeback in a 27-24 overtime win over Arizona on November 7 to set up a two-week stretch against NFC North division contenders Chicago and Green Bay.
After the Bears notched a 27-13 win on November 14 at Soldier Field, Sunday's debacle apparently sealed Childress' fate.
