Packers Whip Giants

Green Bay, Wis. (WHBL) - Aaron Rodgers threw for a career-high 404 yards and four touchdowns yesterday, as the Green Bay Packers crushed the New York Giants 45-to-17 at Lambeau Field. The Giants committed six turnovers – including four interceptions by Eli Manning – as they fell to 9-and-6 and saw their playoff hopes fade. New York's loss gave the N-F-C East Division crown to a snowed-out Philadelphia. And to add insult to injury, the Giants couldn't head home last night because of the massive blizzard in the Northeast. John Kuhn scored three touchdowns, including two on the ground, as Green Bay ended a two-game losing streak and kept its post-season hopes alive at 9-and-6. If they beat Chicago next Sunday, the Packers will get the N-F-C's final Wild Card spot. Next Sunday’s game at Lambeau has been moved to 3:15. It was supposed to start at noon.

Rodgers’ 404 yards were the most for a Green Bay quarterback in the regular season since Lynn Dickey had 418 against Tampa Bay in October of 1980. He completed 25-of-37 for a passer rating of 139-point-nine. The Packers never trailed. The Giants tied the game in the second quarter when Manning threw an 85-yard touchdown pass to Mario Manningham. But Kuhn’s eight-yard rushing score put Green Bay in front for good shortly before the half. It was a seven-point game midway through the third quarter, but the Packers scored three unanswered touchdowns to put it away. The Pack had 515 total yards to New York’s 386 and held the ball 15 minutes longer. Greg Jennings had seven catches for 142 yards. Brandon Jackson had 39 yards on 18 carries, as Green Bay out-gained the Giants on the ground 119 yards to 90. Manning threw for 301 yards and two scores to go with his four picks. Ahmad Bradshaw had 72 all-purpose yards for New York – 31 on the ground and 41 more in five catches. Brandon Jacobs ran for 47 yards and committed a key fumble that was confirmed by replay. Manningham caught four passes for 132 yards.
