GREEN BAY, WI (WTAQ) – The Packers will play the New York Giants in London on October 9th. For local fans, it might not be a game they find easy to attend.
First off, you have to find plane tickets, lodging, and everything else that usually comes with a trip. But then you’d have to get your mitts on a ticket. Ticket King Manager Travis Loftus says they already have a waitlist.
“At this point, we’ve got to wait to see what the NFL is going to do as far as ticket allotment to each team and general public on-sales and everything like that,” Loftus said. “Season ticketholders of each team will be getting a unique code to try to purchase tickets at a certain point here, probably the end of this month or beginning of June. I’m not sure what that allotment will be, but I’m sure there will be a few in there.”
Loftus calls the international game a completely different experience for fans, even if they’re regulars at NFL games.
“It’s almost like if you’ve never been to Lambeau Field. It’s kind of an experience to be there, so that’s how I kind of equate it to, being in London. You’re checking out a whole new country if you’ve never been there, it’s a nice trip, seeing the Packers and doing a little sightseeing,” Loftus said.
Sales to the general public are expected to start in June. But it’s not going to be cheap.
“A lot of Giants fans also have a lot of money to spend as well, so that could drive the market up even higher for the tickets than we were already thinking…Depending on what the face value is on the ticket, the secondary market is definitely going to be considerably north of whatever that face value is, considering the factors of never been over there before and that they’re a popular team,” Loftus said. “I would consider this to be bigger than when we get the Packers and Cowboys playing here at Lambeau, which they are this year. I think the ticket prices are going to be even higher than that…If I had a speculation for the London game, I could see it being anywhere from $500 on up, which is insane. But I definitely could see that happening.”
The NFL will work with officials at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium to set the actual prices, which have yet to be announced.
The full NFL schedule will be released May 12.
