What a Day in Mad-Town!

by Nick Vitrano

Shout it with me.  I need an echo:

We - (We)

We are - (We are)

We are the mighty - (We are the mighty)

We are the mighty Chiefs!

All right.  One more time.

We - (We)

We are - (We are)

We are the mighty - (We are the mighty)

We are the mighty Wolves!

What a great night in Madison yesterday as both the Shiocton Chiefs and the Winneconne Wolves secured first-ever state football titles.  I’m so glad we don’t have to use any of the classic sports clichés reserved for the runner-up:

“The kids played hard and just came up a little short, but there’s a lot to be proud of.”

“They left it all out there on the field and that’s all you can ask.”

“There’s a great core of kids returning and there’s another title run in this group.”

“For now it hurts, but in time this will be an experience they’ll all appreciate.”

Today, we shift our focus to Division II for the clash between Oshkosh North and Kimberly, both unblemished.  Unfortunately, because we have rooting interest in each, we must employ this cliché:

“It’s a shame somebody has to come out on the losing end of this one.”

Congratulations to Shiocton and Winneconne.  Good luck to both Oshkosh North and Kimberly.  Keep your nominations coming HERE  and don’t forget to #WixxPreps on Instagram.
