He Hasn’t Skipped a Beat

by Nick Vitrano

It’s an age-old football debate: does the quarterback make the wideout, or does the wideout make the quarterback?  I’d be curious to know the response from Two Rivers’ Dexter Smith.  Smith made the conversion from wideout to quarterback in this, his senior season, and has done so quite successfully.

This week’s WIXX Preps Pick spotlights the award winning performance of Smith in a 28-8 victory over Eastern Wisconsin Conference rival Campbellsport.  Smith threw for 409 yards, completing 74.5% of his passes (35 of 47), three of them for scores.  He also amassed 92 yards on the ground and punched one in for a rushing TD.

Smith’s performance earned him a WisSports.net “Player of the Week” nomination and ultimately the week 4 honor, following a state-wide vote on the site.  HERE ’s the write-up.

Congratulations to Dexter Smith and the entire 3-1 Two Rivers team.  Good luck to all of our area teams this weekend.  Thank you for the nominations this week.  Keep ‘em coming HERE   and don’t forget to #WIXXPreps your Instagram photos when you’re taking in all the action.
