A 5-year-old boy somehow survived after his dad plowed into a cop car while going 130-mph in a high speed chase through central Iowa.

The 33-year-old father-of-the-year nominee had been on the run with his son in the middle of a big custody battle. Dad was reported to be suicidal.

A cop tried to pull the car over because the license plate was obscured…but the dad took off and lead cops through several counties at well over 100mph.

After cops set up spike strips and a roadblock…he went through the strips and then rammed into an empty squad car at about 130mph. Video shows an officer walking away from the car about 5 seconds before he slams into it.

Somehow the 5-year-old boy was found alive behind the driver's seat under a pile of clothes. He's in serious but stable condition. His dad died instantly.
