Okay...that may be a bit extreme...but "Food Revolution's" Jamie Oliver has opened my eyes up a little bit about what I'm putting in my and my kids bodies.
I've started watching video's of him online and expanding my home cooking ability. Like Jamie says....you're going to eat 3 times a day, every day...don't you want to know and own what it is you're putting in your body? That really hit me. I think about all the times I let my kids have Chicken nuggets and fries...and then think I'm going healthy by steaming some vegatables up and forcing them to eat a bowl. So I bought a few kitchen tools...and stop saying, "Yeah I'm gonna eat better one day soon" and started doing it.
Last night we made the home made chicken nuggets he made on Oprah a few weeks ago.
Not the healthiest meal...but if you're gonna feed them nuggets...shouldn't you know and own whats in them? Flour, eggs, bread crumbs, a little rosemary, garlic, chicken, and some salt and pepper. Took 20 minutes total...and we all loved it.
You don't have to go super fancy either....we went with recycled paper plates and some steamed veggies(They fought me on the veggies...but with a promise of a snack they get to pick later, you can do anything.)
Here's video proof that the kids were cool with taking away their processed chicken nuggest in the shape of stars and fish or whatever.
