There's an inside joke with film buffs about a sound effect called the "Wilhelm Scream." It was first used in the 1951 movie "Distant Drums," but it's been used and reused in hundreds of other movies over the last 60 years. There's a new 12-minute montage on YouTube that shows it being used in everything from old westerns, "Gremlins," and "Toy Story," to "Star Wars," "Batman," and the last "Indiana Jones" sequel.
