Head Coach Mike McCarthy conducted a 25 minute news conference at the Lambeau Field media auditorium this afternoon to draw the curtain down on the Packers' 2012 season. McCarthy said it was another year of adversity, be it injury or difficult loss but the club always was able to respond. Unfortunately, they won't be able to respond after the emphatic ouster in the playoffs by the San Francisco 49ers last Saturday night. McCarthy said the annual Green Bay goal of a Super Bowl was not met, and he understands the disappointment of the fans. He conducted exit interviews with every player and will spend the rest of the week evaluating everything, from his coaching staff, to the roster, to the personnel department. That process will be interrupted by a full week as McCarthy and the Packer staff will coach the NFC squad in next week's Pro Bowl. Mike mentioned Aaron Rodgers will not start for the NFC team because he failed his post-season physical with knee and other issues that aren't considered serious, but bad enough for him to withdraw from the game. The season long mounting injuries were an issue, but moreso on the practice field than on game days according to Mike. When asked specifically about defensive coordinator Dom Capers, McCarthy at first was measured saying his meetings on the job he did and the defense overall will begin Wendesday morning and when pressed later on in the news conference about saying if Capers will definately be back, the coach got irritated as you'll hear on the link below as we have highlights from Mike's press conference, along with several comments from Capers about what happened against the Niners and the defense as a whole. Throughout the rest of the week, come back for more season in review comments from other position coaches on the team.
