Pack back at work

Following a Sunday off, the Packers returned to Nitschke field this morning for a full pads workout under sunny skies and in temperatures that quickly climbed into the 80's.  There were two long team periods of installations, the first for the running game and the second covered offensive red zone work.  Second year defensive back Davon House showed up for the defense in both periods with a pair of interceptions.  He jumped a slant route intended for Dale Moss and stepped in front to pick off Graham Harrell.   In the red zone drill, he intercepted a poorly thrown ball by B.J. Coleman on a sideline route intended for Curenski Gilleylen.  It was thrown too far inside and House snatched.  Charles Woodson also had an interception of Aaron Rodgers who pumped right, then left and tried to thread the needle inside to D.J. Williams but Woodson read it perfectly.  Rodgers also had some highlights, lofting a perfect back shoulder route to Randall Cobb on one play, and Williams on another.  He also found Donald Driver in the back of the end zone threading the pass into a very tight window.  In the two minute drill, the situation was 1:11 on the clock, down 17-13 and starting at their own 40.   Rodgers completed passes to Donald Driver, Williams and James Jones to move the ball to the 11 yard line with a spike and :15 left.  After one incompletion, Rodgers connected with Tom Crabtree who wrestled the ball away from linebacker Dezman Moses for the touchdown with :05 left on the clock.

There was one injury of note from practice, free agent tight end Eric Lair injured his right knee in a pile-up on a running play.   Jermichael Finley returned to practice but on a limited basis.  He suffered a mild concussion on Friday and worked only individual drills in shells.  He's expected to be able to don full pads Tuesday.  Greg Jennings missed a second day with an elbow bruise.

General Manager Ted Thompson met reporters for the first time in camp Monday afternoon and said he likes the competition at all positions early and it's very early to start trying to figure out how the opening day roster will break down.  On the link below, you'll hear from Thompson, along with Mike McCarthy on the Monday workout.
