The samauri's swan song

Already have an update on Nick Barnett.   His visit to Lambeau was brief and it's looking very much like it will be his last.   Barnett tweeted about meeting Ted Thompson who according to several sources, indicated the Packers will try and work out a trade for the veteran linebacker but it they can't find a suitor, he'll be released when cuts can be made on Thursday.  Barnett tweeted "it's time to find another jungle." following the meeting.  Barnett was a first round draft choice out of Oregon State in 2003 and became an immediate starter and fan favorite with his big hit and sack "samauri sword" dance.  He started 78 of his first 80 games for the Pack's defense but suffered a major knee injury in 2008 after nine games, finishing the year on injured reserve.   Last year, Barnett suffered a wrist injury against the Detroit Lions on October 3 and was placed on IR two weeks later.  He signed a multi-year contract extension before the 2007 season and still has two years left on the deal.  He is scheduled to make 4.2 million dollars this season.   Barnett racked up 1014 tackles during his 8 year run in Green Bay, with 15 and a half sacks and nine interceptions including one returned for a touchdown.
