The Packers overcame injury and inconsistent play to reach the playoffs for the third time in the last four years, finishing a 10-6 regular season with a 10-3 Wild Card clinching victory against the Bears Sunday at Lambeau Field.  Before spending time matching up the Philadelphia Eagles playoff game this week at Lincoln Financial Field, thought you might like to take a look at the season by the numbers.

The Pack were just one of 4 teams to finish in the NFL's top 10 in both total offense and defense this year.   Green Bay wound up ranked 9th in offense averaging 358.1 yards a game on exactly 1000 offensive snaps.  The Packers were 24th in rushing at 100.4 yards, and 5th in passing at 257.8 yards a game.  Green Bay ranked even better at yards per pass attempt at number 3, the offense was also 8th in third down conversions, a statistic that was very shaky early in the season, operated at a better than 50% clip through mid-season before falling off last Sunday against the Bears (2 of 11).  Individually, Aaron Rodgers finished as the number 3 passer in the NFL with a rating of 101.2, trailing only Tom Brady (111.0) and Phillip Rivers (101.8),  He finished with 28 touchdowns and 11 interceptions and finished 78 yards short of becomming the first quarterback in history to throw for over 4000 yards in his firsts three seasons as a starter.  Greg Jennnings ranked 18th in receptions with a team high 76 but was 4th in yards gained with 1265, behind only Brandon Lloyd, Rodddy White and Reggie Wayne.  Brandon Jackson fnished with 703 yards rushing, placing him a distant 33rd in league rankings, well behind rushing champion Arian Foster of Houston (1616).  Mason Crosby wound up scoring 112 points, good for 11th with David Akers of Philadelphia leading the list at 143.  Crosby hit all 46 extra points and was 22 of 28 on field goals.  Tim Masthay improved as the season went along and finished 14th in gross average (43.9) and 17th in net average (37.6).  Tramon Williams was 19th in punt return average at 8 yards a return, well behind the single season record performance of Devin Hester who averaged 17.1 yards a return.

On defense, Green Bay finshed 5th in the league in yards allowed per game, down from last year's number 2 finish behind the New York Jets.  The Packers gave up 309.1 yards a game, 114.9 on the ground (18th) and 194.2 yards through the air (5th).  The biggest stat for coordinator Dom Capers was scoring defense and Green Bay allowed 240 points on the season, an average of 15 per game which was second best behind Pittsburgh's 232 points given up.  The Packers held 5 opponents to a single score and shut out the Jets.  The team gave up 24 touchdowns total with 2 coming on returns to the defense surrendured only 22 touchdowns in 16 games.  A couple of other areas stood out, the opponents quarterback rating of 67.2 was the best in the league, the 24 interceptions were second only to New England (25) and the 47 sacks was third most.  Individually, Clay Matthews wound up 4th in sacks with 13.5,  only Ed Reed with 8, Troy Polamalu, Devin McCourty and Assante Samuel with 7, had more interceptions than Tramon Williams with his career best of 6.  The Packers as a team finished plus 10 on the turnover table with 32 takeaways and 22 giveaways, 4th best in the NFL behind New England (28), Pittsburgh (17) and Atlanta (14).
