An off day for the players Tuesday was a busy day for the personel department. General Manager Ted Thompson made several moves, placing Mike Neal and Brady Poppinga on season ending injured reserve and the Packers also waived for Green Bay Blizzard linebacker Maurice Simpkins. The Pack added a pair of linebackers, 8 year veteran Matt Wilhelm who played most of his career with the San Diego Chargers, appearing in 82 games with 22 starts. He played 11 games last year with San Francisco and was without a team this season. Also signed was first year free agent Diyral Briggs who was waived by the Denver Broncos. Speical teams likely factored into the signings.
Overnight ratings for the Packers-Vikings game were the best this season for NBC's Football Night in America. The game earned a 15.4 rating and 25 share with an estimated 25.7 million viewers Sunday night, topping the 25.3 million who tuned in to the Cowboys and Redskins on opening weekend.
