Setback for Harrell

Posted by Mark Daniels on

Packers head coach Mike McCarthy ligthened the load just a bit on Tuesday, keeping the pads off for both practices, working in shells instead.  The evening practice was also among the shortest of camp.   Former first round pick Justin Harrell had a setback with his lower back, operated on twice already in his three seasons in Green Bay.  McCarthy said Harrell experienced tightness and was withheld from work.  While this looks like more of the same for the disappointing defensive lineman, McCarthy said he's not concerned right now because Harrell has been able to work throughout the off-season and has made an impact on the practice field in camp and against the Cleveland Browns in the pre-season opener.  Still, you have to wonder just how much more patient the organization can be with Justin if this issue lingers.

Can't let this posting go by without mentioning the Barnum and Bailey camp in Minneapolis.  Vikings veterans Ryan Longwell, Jared Allen and Steve Hutchison skipped practice Tuesday to fly to Hattiesburg, Mississippi to meet with Brett Favre and by late afternoon, it wasn't a white horse, but instead a white lear jet that touched down with Favre aboard who was then given a lift to Winter Park in Longwell's SUV, covered live on two Minneapolis TV stations.  Yes, the 40 year old has ridden into town to try and save the Vikings one more time.

A swing through the locker room is next, with quotes from the day's happenings at Packers camp;
