Injured Dog

Posted by Lauri Quinn Loewenberg on

Dear Lauri: I dreamed I was driving on a busy road and there was an injured black dog on the side of the road. I stopped, got the dog in my car, and tried to drive to the vet as fast as I could. Her front paw was severed and bleeding. There was a lot of traffic and I hit the side of a truck making a left turn in front of me. It cracked my driver's side window. I told the owner of the truck I had an emergency and kept driving. I got the dog to the vet, but the vet said all they could do was take her pain away. I was crying and shaking and woke up sobbing. -Audrey, 34, Roy UT

Lauri:
Is there a relationship in your life or a situation that you feel loyalty towards that is not doing well?  The severed paw and the dog being on the side of the road both seem to point to some sort of separation in your life. Are you feeling like you have been left by the wayside? Are you trying to heal your emotional wounds right now? All the traffic suggests there is a lot of confusion connected to this situation and therefore it is slow going.  The car crash may mean you feel you have made a mistake somewhere in all this chaos, and your cracked window indicates your perspective has changed. The advice in this dream comes from the vet: All she can do is take away the pain. In other words, you may be at a point where you can’t do anything about this so try not to let it bother you so much. Sometimes things work themselves out.

Audrey replies: Thanks Lauri. It's actually a work relationship. I had one job description but my position has been changed in the past couple of weeks and I feel a little lost with the whole thing, trying to find my niche. Being left behind fits right in with that;  I feel like I'm a spectator now instead of a player. It's very emotional for me because my job means so much to me.
