Registry

Wow, so we "attempted" to register this past Sunday.  We kinda did it out of boredom, figured we had a free Sunday, and that doesn't happen very often, so lets take advantage and get some wedding stuff done.  Boy, we had no clue what we were in for.  First of all we were not on the same page at all.  I wanted to register for dishes, kitchen stuff, etc.  Michael, on the other hand, is perfectly fine with what we already have.  Sure, we have ok stuff, but I want stuff that is ours.  Not my pans, his glasses, his plates.  And I would like stuff that hasn't followed me from the college dorm room.  Is this just a girl thing?  It is frustrating, because since we live together, we have bought a lot of the stuff we already need.  We also don't own a house, so we had a lot of debate over registering for things that we would need once we got a house, like king size bedding.  We don't have a king size bed, but once we buy a house, we are getting one (whether he likes it or not :))  So do you register for it, or not?

Another thing was wow, who knew you needed all of that stuff for the kitchen?  I have been living on my own for 12 years without this stuff, when I get married, am I magically going to need massive amounts of pyrex?  Plus, half of the stuff we found, we were like wow, we could get the same thing at a different store for dollars cheaper!  So after spending about an hour purusing, we "compromised" on about twenty or so things.  I am going to have to do another sort of "inventory" of our apartment, and head back.  One thing I did notice was it is so much easier to register online.  I went back to the website of the store we are registered at and it was SO much easier!  It has a specifici order of everything.  All of the plates and prices on one page.  All of the blenders and prices on one page. I ended up going back to the website and finding new plates that I didn't even notice they had at the store.  The one question I have is if I decided I want to add things to the registry, do you think I need to clear it with the Diesel first?

One thing I did actually like about the experience, is it was good to see we are kinda on the same page with needs and wants.  Neither of us picked anything that we didn't need just because we wanted it.  We also picked all sorts of prices because we wanted everyone to have an option of how much to spend.  Another thing I thought was fantastic was the store gave us cards to put in our invites (yes I know some people find it tacky.) but the part I loved was it was a card with where we are registered and if you bring the card in you get 15% off of your purchase of anything on our registry.  I think that is awesome!

Allright, so I obviously have questions about this expericence, so help me out friends :)
