fall

So slowly but surely everything is coming together.  It is funny- the things that I have been dreading doing are the things that aren't going badly, and things that I thought I was so sure of, are giving me the most trouble....For example, I am almost done collecting addresses.  I think I am only looking for about ten more- talk about a relief- and it only took a week or two!  I was quite impressed with the response time and cooperation of people!

I still feel like time is going pretty slowly, but we will be officially hitting the 6 month in about two weeks and I am thinking after that things are gonna fly!  After talking with Michael we have something wedding related for the next three of four weeks between engagement pictures, food tasting, etc.  We are still a little stumped on protocal for certain things- like when is the appropriate time to register, where to register, how many places do we register at?  I also have no clue when it comes to invitations- when the heck are we supposed to order those?  Where do I even order them from???  How far in advance do we send out the invites before the wedding, and at this point are save the dates a waste of time?  I can look up wedding etiquette guides all I want, but every scenario seems to be different.

Our next big hurdle seems to be the rehearsal dinner.  We have no clue where to do it.  We are getting married in downtown appleton, and the reception is in neenah.  The majority of our wedding party is out of town, so they will most likely be spending the night at the hotel.  Since the rehearsal will be on a Thursday we decided to do a late rehearsal.  We didn't want people to have to take off two days for our wedding!  A late rehearsal means late dinner- around 7:30 or 8 pm.  We really do want to treat our wedding party to a nice dinner, but since our group is so larger it is looking to be more money than we anticipated.  I guess the question I have is if you were standing up in a wedding, what would you expect from the bride and groom in terms of rehearsal dinner?  Is it a tradition that you wish would just loosen up?  Would you prefer pizza at the hotel and be on your merry way after the rehearsal, or is it more like hey I am giving up time and money for you, the least you can do is buy me a nice dinner- give me time to sit and chat before the chaos of the wedding really starts?  I would love your input!
