I know, I know we have been amazing weather lately and trust me I am the last one to complain about this. It is because of this weather that I am so ready for Christmas! We are so lucky to have weather this beautiful in November that it is almost like wow, how can we complain about cold if mother Nature is only going to give it to us 4 months of cold instead of the usual 5! My ideal world is no snow until November- if that happens there is nothing I can complain about- that is until snowstorm Aiden hits (for anyone who didn't know, they released the names of the snowstorms today and the first one to hit will be titled Aiden:))
Anyways for some reason I have been more in the Christmas spirit than ever before. Maybe it is because of my neices and nephews- I get to relive the whole Santa Claus experience through them, or maybe it is the idea that we will soon be playing Mariah Carey all I want for Christmas is you on a regular basis! (p.s.- don't forget to tune in the day after Thanksgiving- it is holiday tradition for Murphy to play that song to kick of the Holiday season.) I think I know the real reason. I finally get to put up a Christmas Tree again! I know you are probably thinking- again? What happened? Well here is the story....
When Michael (aka the Diesel) and I first started dating, one of the first times he met my family is when we all went to go cut down Christmas trees. He did a great job at cutting down my tree and dragging it home for me. The only thing we forgot to do was actually put the tree up. We got the tree the weekend of Thanksgiving and I think I waited three weeks to put it up, and all three weeks Michael badgered me about putting it up. Well for anyone who knows anything about trees (which obviously I do not) knows that when a dead tree sits. the sap collects at the bottom of the stump. Michael must have spent a solid two hours (in the middle of a Packer game mind you, because yes I swore it would only take five minutes, or at least the length of halftime.) After many phone calls to his dad, brother in law, etc he finally got the tree cut. Well, that wasn't even the hard part! Unfortunately I had purchased one of the el cheapo stands. Little did I know actually putting up the tree would be even more of a task. After ANOTHER two hours of "it's not straight", it falling down, and at one point Michael asking to check my neck...yeah I didn't get that until he said yeah I just wanted to see if it was actually attached to your body, because only an idiot would have this much difficutly putting up a tree! Needless to say, this was our first fight. And because of that horrific moment Michael swore we would never get a real tree again (or at least until children were in the picture.)
Well my sister knew that not having a Christmas tree every year was killing me. I had every intention of buying a fake tree, but I refused to pay full price because I know they are pretty much half off the day after Christmas. Well on the day after Christmas the last thing I wanted to do was fight the crowds to go shopping. So for my birthday this year my nephews surprised me with a fake Christmas tree- so I will finally have a tree again!!! I am so ready to put it up today!!! As I was typing this I realized- do I have to go buy a stand for this- or does it come with one?? Help me out friends, I am trying so hard to become more domesticated, but as you can tell, it isn't quite working!
Anyways- here is picture of the Diesel and I by the Christmas tree that I refer to as the tree that turned Michael into a Grinch aka the Tree that Stole Christmas...
