A Super Surprise

by Nick Vitrano

I don’t have a rooting interest in Sunday’s Super Bowl.  I think there are great story threads woven through each locker room, each equally compelling for game day and beyond.  No matter who hoists the Lombardi Trophy Sunday night, legends will be born and legacies will be cemented (positively, negatively, and controversially).  And that’s just the game part of the deal.

The Super Bowl is such an awesome party.  It’s still the only sports entity outside of the Olympics that unites the sports fan and the couldn’t-care-less about sports folk.  That, among other factors, is one of the primarily reasons that the cost to attend the Super Bowl is so insane.  The supply is equal to any other game day, but the demand is elevated 10-fold (that’s not scientific...just a frame of reference).

Interestingly enough, this is as affordable a Super Bowl as I can ever remember.  It’s not cheap by any means, but tix are available at face value, and that just doesn’t happen…ever.  That reality has made attending the game a much more attainable reality for the actual fans of the teams, many whom have found themselves frozen out of past experiences as a result of the party crowd driving up the prices.

The fact that legit Seahawks and Broncos fans will be in attendance should make the environment that much more emotionally charged.  Just check out the reaction of this ‘Hawks fan who was literally brought to tears over the laminated dream:

If you want to read the full story, the woman’s son (the guy shot the video) put an extended background in the “about” section HERE .  Very cool.
