Easy A Posted January 6, 2011 by Katie Marx

I LOVED this movie!  I would highly recommend it to anyone!  It is about a girl who fakes being (pardon my language) a "slut" to help make the unpopular boys, popular.  Eventually things get out of hand, and it is loosely based on the Scarlet Letter.  Thought this movie was hilarious!  Emma Stone was great- watch for her in upcoming movies.  She is gonna be huge!

Once again, nothing like the original... Posted December 13, 2010 by Katie Marx

karate kid

Well I had plenty of time to catch up on my movie watching this weekend!  First one I will talk about is the Karate Kid.  Sure it was a great movie, but nowhere near the original!  Nothing can beat Ralph Machio and Mr. Miagi!  The story line is pretty much the same except that it is set in China and the kids that beat him up are much more brutal- plus their was only one training that taught him life lessons and it was about hanging up his coat!  Seriously?!?!  There was way too much training, and not enough story line!  So if you are a hardcore fan of the original, I definitely do not recommend this one!  Although I do recommend the soundtrack aka Justin Bieber :)

Crazy Busy! Posted November 17, 2010 by Katie Marx

Ok, so I know I have been slacking a little bit on watching movies, but things have been so crazy busy!  Between the birth of my new niece, standing up in a wedding in two months, getting to the gym, spending time with the Diesel- I haven't had much time to sit and watch movies.  Trust me, I have been dying to order one!  So by the start of the week next week I will be determined to have some new movies for you!  I am debating between the Karate Kid...I know I know, it can't be as good as the original, but my parents saw it and said they loved it!  Plus with Justin Bieber on the soundtrack I feel like I can't go wrong!  I also have been dying to see Get Him To The Greek- totally one of my kind of movies!  Which one would you guys suggest?!?!?

The Back Up Plan Posted September 22, 2010 by Katie Marx

back up plan

Yet another movie that I was like ooh, looks good, don't want to pay full price at the theatre for.  LOVED THIS MOVIE!  I was shocked!  I couldn't believe I actually enjoyed a JLo movie.  It is about a girl who can't find Mr. Right, but really wants a baby.  So she decides to take matters into her own hands and gets pregnant.  Well of course, the day she is inseminated, she meets the man of her dreams.  They start to date and you watch the ups and downs of pregnancy.  I found the whole idea of a man claimng the baby as his own a little far fetched, but it had some really funny moments as well.  I would highly recommend it!

Just Wright Posted September 22, 2010 by Katie Marx

I ordered this movie over the weekend and it was something that when I saw previews for I thought, oh looks good, but don't think I want to spend ten dollars a ticket on going to see it.  That is why I waited for it to come to on demand, and it was a perfect on demand movie.  Cute movie, not super awesome, but worth the three dollars or so!

The movie is about a woman who is an athletic trainer and avid basketball fan.  Her cousin starts dating a pro ball player who gets hurt before contract negotiations.  She is picked by her cousin to be his trainer.  Well when her cousin doesn't think he is going to recover she leaves him, leaving Queen Latifah to pick up the pieces.  While she is picking up the pieces they fall in love, and just when you think they are going to start a relationship, enter the return of cousin!

Super cute movie, definitely worth it!

Date Night Posted August 16, 2010 by Katie Marx

date night

I ordered this movie on Friday night and LOVED it!  Seriously though, how can you go wrong with Tina Fey and Steve Carrell?  The movie is about a couple afraid that they have lost the spark in their marriage, so they go to the city for the night to spice things up.  They steal somebody's reservation and because of it, a case of mistaken identity- along with hilarity ensues.  DEFINITELY ORDER THIS ONE!

Remember Me Posted July 12, 2010 by Katie Marx

Ok, sremember meo I just ordered Remember Me off of On Demand.  I had been himming and hawwing for weeks on whether or not to get it, and I finally gave in.  Here is the synopsis...A romantic drama centered on two new lovers: Tyler, whose parents have split in the wake of his brother's suicide, and Ally, who lives each day to the fullest since witnessing her mother's murder.  Pretty self explanatory, right?  Well the big kicker is at the end, you just have to remember to pay attention to the dates and current events in the movie.  It seemed like a slow movie to me, but then when it is over and you actually think about what had just happened you think, wow that was really compelling!  I would definitely suggest it!

Flying Solo Posted June 16, 2010 by Katie Marx

yummyWhen I found out the weather was going to be nice today, I was almost a little bummed.  Don't get me wrong, this weather has been just as depressing to me as it has been for the rest of you, but I kind of wanted to go to a movie, but now since it will be nice out, I feel like it is a waste of an afternoon.  The funny thing is is I still probably won't leave the confines of my apartment, but I like to pretend I would :)  So back to the movie thing.  I was looking forward to going to a movie by myself- is that weird?  About 5 years ago Murphy and Maino dared me to go to a movie by myself.  I did, and I was pretty much mortified.  In my defense I think it was because I turned out to be the only person in the ENTIRE theater.  ( I went to Fever pitch at the old ghetto Marcus at like 4 in the afternoon on a Tuesday.  The theater has now been demolished.)  So having to sit by myself as the ushers did their little theater check was so embarrassing!  About two months ago I went to go see The Last Song by myself (Mike refused to go, and I was bored one night.)  I found myself actually loving it!  Actually, sometimes I think I prefer it!  A friend of mine had asked me to go see Sex and the City 2 with her when it came out, and I found myself disappointed because I was hoping to go to the movie by myself.  I enjoy sitting by myself, not having to make conversation as you wait for the movie to start, not having to listen to their input throughout the entire movie, purchasing the small buckey of popcorn, not having both hands digging in one at a time- and of course in the middle of the movie that person going- is there any popcorn left?  Granted I do still love going to movies with friends and Michael, but certain movies you just want to see alone.  For example, any movie I had read the book to.  I like to silently analyze the differences in my head.  If someone knows I read the book ahead of time, they will often ask me questions in the middle of the movie- like wait, what just happened, or who is that person, or why is this so important?  Again, like I said that doesn't mean I only like going to movies alone.  Actually going to movies is a huge common interest for Mike and I.  But like I said, I prefer certain ones with him,  I love going to comedies with him, and especially thriller or scary movies!  I am just wondering if anyone else agrees with me, or if I am kinda different ;)?

Leap Year Posted June 10, 2010 by Katie Marx

Ok so I tried really hard to watch this movie.  If you ask me, I have no idea how the movie was ever made- how did the script get approved???  Awful, horrible movie!

The movie is about a woman who is dating her boyfriend of four years.  They are about to purchase a home together, so she is expecting a proposal.  When it doesn't happen she follows him to Dublin to propose on leap year.  She of course can't make it directly to Dublin and needs help getting there, so along the way she meets a man and falls in love with him

Ok, so reasons I hated the movie...Normally I love Amy Adams but in this movie she came across and incredibley whiney and self righteous.  Also, her "boyfriend" couldn't be any more unattractive or boring.  The whole time I was thinking, why does she want to marry him?  Why is she not running the other way?  Then the man she falls in love with- he was not that attractive or interesting.

All in all I give this movie eleven thumbs down!

Dear John Posted June 3, 2010 by Katie Marx

Dear John

I don't know why I do this to myself.  I read the book before I see the movie and then am disappointed in the movie!  It happened once again with Dear John.  Everybody loves Nicholas Sparks books made into movies, but you can't do Nicholas Sparks writing justice on the big screen.

I did enjoy the movie though, and if you haven't read the book, you will love it!  I just feel like when you read the book you become so much more invested in the characters lives.  Anyways, the movie is about a man named John who is home on leave from the marines.  While he is home he meets Savannah.  They have a whirlwind two week romance and promise to make it work through letters, besides, it is only a year right?  That is until September 11th happened and John chooses to reenlist.  I won't spoil anymore, but it is definitely a tear jerker (and what you think is going to happen, doesn't.)  I would highly recommend this movie for anyone who hasn't read the book :)  It also doesn't hurt that is stars one of my favorites, Channing Tatum.

Ok, so this movie bored me out of my mind.  The funny thing was was I was sitting on Facebook throughout the entire movie, and people kept telling me to stick with it.  It did get a little better at the end, but still, I am glad I did not spend the money on it in the theatre.  I must say though, I was so curious about the movie and everyone was so passionate about it, I will say you have to give it a try!  I feel the movie was too hard for me to even explain, so I took the synopsis off of the internet...

A reluctant hero.  An epic journey.  A choice between the life he left behind and the incredible new world he's learned to call his own.

It's Complicated Posted May 7, 2010 by Katie Marx

its complicated

I LOVED LOVED LOVED this movie.  Seriously, it was so good!  It had everything- I laughed, at times I teared up, I got angry.  I got seriously emotionally invested in this movie.  The movie is about a divorced couple who have a few drinks too many and wind up in bed together one night.  Unfortunately the husband is remarried, with the woman he had cheated on his wife with, so the ex wife became the mistress.  During the affair the ex wife meets a man and starts cheating on the husband.  They do have kids together and it shows the effects of divorce on kids.  The movie really has heart, but it says it in the title, it's complicated!

I loved Merryl Streep and Alec Baldwin in it, along with Steve Martin.  Definitely an adult movie due to content- their is a HIGH-LARIOUS scene involving the three of them smoking weed together.   The movie also stars Jim from the office, which makes it even better in my book!  Check out Time Warner on Demand, trust me you will love it!!!
