An Atlanta man got eight months in prison for slapping an African American toddler on a plane and calling him a racial slur.
He struck the 19-month old across the face on a flight from Minneapolis to Atlanta last year.
He was on his way to remove his dying son from life support and says emotions got the best of him. His attorney also blamed his alcoholism for his actions.
He apologized and pleaded guilty. Prosecutors had asked for a six-month sentence but the judge wanted the punishment to be a bit stiffer.
Not only was he sentenced to eight-months in jail, but he was fired from his job at AGC Aerospace and Defense.
