Mother's Day Gift For My Wife - SCORE! Posted May 13, 2012 by Corey Carter

I don't know how I did it, but I did.

I came up with a GOOD Mother's Day gift for my wife, WITHOUT spending ANY money!

My wife has a generic alert tone on her cell phone for incoming texts.  I find it kind of annoying, actually.  So last weekend I had my almost 2 1/2 yr old daughter Jenna into the radio station and I recored a little message to her momma.

I then snuck my wife's cell phone and transferred the Mp3 over to her phone and now it's her new text-alert tone!

She really liked it and had a tear in her eye!  Yay!!!

Twins - 6 months old already!! (PICS) Posted April 26, 2012 by Corey Carter

I have yet to bring my twin boys to work to show to everybody, it's quite a task to get them all ready and my 2 year old daughter into the van for mom by herself....

So here is an updated pic for everybody who is curious on what they now look like:

(Noah is on the left, Cole is on the right...it's amazing how much they DON'T look like each other!)

Follow Up to the Most-Awesome Wedding Invitation EVER! (VIDEO) Posted April 25, 2012 by Corey Carter

Remember a few months ago I posted this image of my cousin Kelli and her fiance Dan's wedding reception invitation.  It rocked...

Awesome Wedding Invitation

Well, I may have spoken too soon to say "they aren't in a band or anything...", as THIS is the wedding video of the Bride (Bass Guitar) and Groom (lead guitar) ROCKIN' out on-stage.  Pretty sweet!!  (The Brides' brother - my cousin - in on drums)

I should add that the Bride did NOT know how to play Bass Guitar before they started practicing for this like 2 months ago.   Sweetness!!

The reason we should thank Adele. Posted April 24, 2012 by Corey Carter

Why do you like WIXX so much?

I know there are a LOT of reasons, but let's face it, one of the main reasons is because you like the MUSIC we play on WIXX.

We take a lot of pride in that.  A LOT.

As one of the guys who helps sift through the research that goes into picking the best songs that YOU like to play on WIXX, I'm more excited now about the music we play on WIXX than ever before.  Here's why:

Top 40 Radio (WIXX-type stations across the company) were going through a phase in the past few years, that seemed like the only songs they played were something from a pop-female (Katy Perry, Pink) or a dance-type song (Pitbull, Black Eyed Peas.)  There wasn't a whole lot in-between.

Now in WIXX's case, that wasn't true, because we have always played rock songs too, like Nickelback, Daughtry and Theory of a Deadman and even played some of the softer songs like Christina Perri.

Last year at this time, WIXX was one of the FIRST Top 40 stations in the ENTIRE COUNTRY to take a chance and play an artist named Adele.  We knew that she had a strong, yet small following...and some "adult alternative" stations had played her in the past.

Well, now, a year later, I'm confident to say that Adele's music opened the door to Top 40 stations across the entire country to figure out that their listeners enjoy music that isn't JUST female pop or dance/hip-hop.

Look at the playlists of Top 40 stations across the country now.  Fun "We Are Young" is a HUGE song.  Gotye "Somebody I Used To Know" is being played on stations that NEVER would have thought about playing these-type sounding songs before Adele came around.  Grouplove "Tongue Tied" is another song that is going to be a hit, that I think would have been passed over last year.

So, if you like the variety of sounds on the radio, you can thank Adele.

Or, if you're lucky enough to be a long-time lover of WIXX, then you now realize that the rest of the country is TRYING to catch-up with us.  :)

Yet another version of Sexy & I Know It.

If you like Blues music, this is the remix for you.

My favorite is still "I'm Elmo & I Know It"....

But this one isn't bad...

The Most-Awesome Wedding Reception Invite EVER! Posted March 12, 2012 by Corey Carter

So my cousin Kelli is getting married in Florida this Spring, so she's having a reception in Duluth (her hometown) upon their return.

We got THIS invite in the mail, which has to be the COOLEST wedding-related invite i've ever seen. Obviously this wouldn't fit everybody, but if you knew my cousin Kelli, this is TOTALLY her.

I'm not sure where they got these done at, but they ROCK!  (It's almost like I'm going to a K.I.S.S. concert) - and no, they do not play in a band or anything like that...

Good news for Packers Fans??? You Decide... Posted March 1, 2012 by Corey Carter

Being 1 of 2 MN Vikings Fans on the on-air staff, I figured I'd post this.

There have been rumors going around that the Vikings were going to leave Minnesota and move to Los Angeles, because they couldn't get a new stadium to replace the toilet bowl known as the Metrodome.

Well, big news today:  The Vikings are staying for 30 Years as they finally worked out a new stadium deal.

Vikings fans are obviously HAPPY....

My question is:  is this GOOD news or BAD news for Packers fans???  I know most Packers fans HATE the Vikings...but wouldn't those same people miss the rivalry between the two that has been so competitive over the years?

I would say that it's GOOD for Packers fans (and for the NFL), but I might be a bit biased...let me know your thoughts by commenting below...

(Below is from a news article posted at VIKINGS.COM if you'd like to read more)

– The site is located adjacent to the current Metrodome site, and construction of the new stadium could be structured in a way that the Vikings would have to play just 1 season at TCF Bank Stadium. The new fixed-roof stadium will be 70% larger than the current Metrodome and will include modern fan amenities that will provide a first-class game-day environment for fans.

– The stadium will be a multi-purpose facility that will be open year-round to host events such as, but not limited to, NCAA Final Fours, trade shows and conventions, high school and college sporting events, cultural celebrations and other entertainment events.

– There will be 2,500 parking spaces adjacent to the stadium.

– Total projected cost of the entire project is $975 million, and the Vikings will pay for 50.6% of those costs. That total includes $427 million in up-front costs and $327.1 million in operating costs and capital expenses.

– The State of Minnesota’s contribution will be 26.7% ($398M) and the City of Minneapolis’s contribution will be 22.7% ($338.7M). Most importantly, in my opinion at least, is that no new taxes will be required in Minneapolis or statewide to pay for the stadium. That is to say, no taxpayer dollars will be taken from the state’s general fund.

– The Vikings will sign a 30-year lease to play in the new stadium, ensuring that the team remains an asset to the state for generations.

This is NOT what I expected from the All-American Rejects! VIDEO Posted February 26, 2012 by Corey Carter

One of my favorite new songs on the radio is "Beekeepers Daughter" from the All-American Rejects...so I was pretty excited to see the new video for the song.

This is NOT what I expected.  Not sure what to think of it yet.  It's either so strange it's cool...or so strange it's lame.  Thoughts??

Why is this acceptable at the Dr.'s Office Posted February 24, 2012 by Corey Carter

***UPDATE TO THIS STORY***  :  My wife insists that they didn't say our last name.  But I KNOW that my old Dr.'s office in Minnesota used to do this!!

So I know that hospitals/clinics have to be VERY careful about confidentiality rule - aka: they are not able to share names of patients with anybody besides close family.

So why is it, when I go for a check-up...or when we bring our twin boys in for a 4-month checkup, when we're waiting in the waiting room...

DO THEY SAY OUT LOUD OUR BOYS' FIRST AND LAST NAMES FOR EVERYBODY TO HEAR!?!?

Not that it really bothers me, but I can imagine that it would bother some.  If eveybody in the waiting room knows your first and last name...then isn't that breaking the confidentiality rules?

Why can't they just hand you a number - like the return line at Target???

Maybe there is a simple explanation on this...if so..let me know...always been curious.
